Step By Step Cornrow Braids

Cornrow braids (also known as underhand track braids) have been around for thousands of years and populated as far as Egypt. Centuries later, the style gained wide popularity in the late 60’s and 70’s, and then later again in the 90’s during the hip-hop culture. Since then, men and women everywhere have sported cornrow braids. This beautiful technique can require a lot of time and patience, but the end results are fabulous.

Here`s How:

· First, decide what type of style you want for your cornrow braids. If you need to, plan out your style on a piece of paper. You’ll want to begin with four to six sections from the front to the back of the head since this is the easiest way to begin.

· Begin by misting the head with water until it is slightly damp and then comb through the hair to remove tangles. Never brush wet hair.

· Next, part a section of hair where you would like the cornrow to begin and then clip the rest of the hair out of the way. Now, take a small section of the parted section and separate it into three strands. Make a normal braid with the strands and then make “one” or “two stitches to get you started.

· Continue working with the braid by picking up some of the hair from the rest of the section that you parted and add it to the strand you are currently working with. The idea behind this is to braid and pick up hair as you’re working. If you want an “invisible” track braid, tuck the hair under. If you want a “visible” track braid reach for hair from underneath and bring it out.

· Once you have reached the end of the braid, secure it with a hair accessory such as a barrette or snap bead. Avoid using uncovered rubber bands since they can snap and break hair easily.

· Repeat the steps above for each section where you would like a cornrow braid to begin.

Some Things to Remember

· If you have very straight hair, consider using a protein hair gel to help the style to last longer.

· Avoid pulling hard from the scalp. If you do, it can cause the style to no last as well as cause hair loss, infection and pain. You’ll know if you’re pulling too tight if the scalp looks raised or the person complains of pain.

· When braiding, keep in mind that narrow braids will last longer than bigger ones.

· If you’d prefer, you can use a hair cream or leave in conditioner instead of misting hair with water when braiding.

· If you have tight, curly hair, you should use a natural oil mixture or hair grease to prevent hair from becoming brittle and braids from loosing their shape too soon.

· Generally your cornrow braids will only last for about a week. After that they will need to be redone.

Caring For Your Braids

· You can wash your hair with the cornrow braids in. The best way to wash your hair is to wear a stock cap over your braids and then use the head of a shower or a water pick to force water under the braids. Shampoo hair by diluting it with water and follow up with a leave in conditioner.

· You should wear a hair scarf while you are sleeping to help the braids stay for at least a week.

· If you’re going to go out in the sun, wear a sunscreen on your scalp or wear a hat to keep from being burned.

Travian is a browser based game so it’s graphic is very simple. Although there are some internet games like webkinz or funkeys they are made with more complex technologies like flash. It simple describes what is happening in the present. Many people think writing haiku is easy. That's because they don't understand how to write haiku. The novel is set in Afghanistan from the late 1970s to 1981 and the start of the Soviet occupation, then in the Afghan community in Fremont, California from the 1980s to the early 2000s, and finally in contemporary Afghanistan during the Taliban regime.

The Kite Runner is the story of strained family relationships between a father and a son, and between two brothers, how they deal with guilt and forgiveness, and how they weather the political and social transformations of Afghanistan from the 1970s to 2001. The Kite Runner opens in 2001. The adult narrator, Amir, lives in San Francisco and is contemplating his past, thinking about a boyhood friend whom he has betrayed. The action of the story then moves backward in time to the narrator's early life in Kabul, Afghanistan, where he is the only child of a privileged merchant. Amir's closest friend is his playmate and servant Hassan, a poor illiterate boy who is a member of the Hazara ethnic minority. The Kite Runner, a coming-of-age novel, deals with the themes of identity, loyalty, courage, and deception. As the protagonist Amir grows to adulthood, he must come to terms with his past wrongs and adjust to a new culture after leaving Afghanistan for the United States.

The novel sets the interpersonal drama of the characters against the backdrop of the modern history of Afghanistan, sketching the political and economic toll of the instability of various regimes in Afghanistan; from the end of the monarchy to the Soviet-backed government of the 1980s to the fundamentalist Taliban government of the 1990s. Perkataan layang-layang pula digunakan di kebanyakan negeri-negeri seperti di pantai barat dan selatan Semenanjung Malaysia seperti Selangor, Melaka dan Johor. Ini dapat dibuktikan menerusi catatan Tun Seri Lanang yang menyatakan bahawa Raja Ahmad bermain layang-layang bersama pemuda-pemuda serta kerabat DiRaja. Selain itu kemunculan nama wau juga dikaitkan bunyi yang terhasil daripada busur yang diikat pada wau. Apabila dinaikkan ke udara, daun ibus yang dipasang pada busur tersebut akan menghasilkan bunyi "wau" secara berirama.

Wau dimainkan di tempat yang berangin. Satu waktu, permainan tanpa nama itu putus talinya, dan anak itu pun menangis “wa,wa,wa,wa…”, maka, menurut yang empunya cerita, lahirlah perkataan "Wau".

Mengikut asal usul yang lain, yang lebih dekat dengan mitos, ia bermula apabila Dewi Dewa Dani bersalinkan Dewa Muda. Bidan Ketujuh membuang tembuni Dewa Muda ke laut. Maka Mak si Dewa Dewa yang sedang bertapa di kayangan merasa tidak selesa duduk di kayangan, lalu dia turun ke Medan Kulum Laman Yang Rata, dan dilihatnya tembuni Dewa Muda terapung-apung di Sungai Nil. Tembuni itu dipulihkan menjadi seorang dewa yang dinamakan Awang si Jambul Lebat dan selaput tembuni Dewa Muda itulah dijadikan “rangka” Wau untuk Dewa Muda.

Untuk menyiapkan Wau itu, Mak si Dewa Dewa mengambil panau Dewa Muda untuk dijadikan bunga Wau, tangan Dewa Muda untuk sayap Wau, laras kaki Dewa Muda dijadikan tangan dan badan wau serta rambut Dewa Muda dijadikan jambul Wau. Bila Wau ini dinaikkan, maka busurnya berbunyi dua belas bahasa dan dua belas ragam. Dari bunyi busur itulah wujudnya nama "Wau". Mengikut asal usul ini juga, wau yang tidak ada busur atau busurnya tidak berbunyi dua belas bahasa dan dua belas ragam dipanggil "layang-layang".

Mengikut asal usul yang lain pula, wau wujud dari semangat padi. Pada satu hari, seorang petani bersama isterinya yang tidak mempunyai anak terjumpa dengan seorang anak perempuan yang cantik, lalu dipelihara oleh mereka. Si suami tiap-tiap hari membawakan minuman dan makanan kepada anak perempuan itu di tempat dia bermain di rumah padi, yang akhirnya menimbulkan perasaan cemburu di hati isteri. Anak perempuan itu dipukul oleh si isteri lantas melarikan diri dari rumah petani tersebut menghala angina barat.

Berikutan dengan kejadian itu, padi petani suami isteri tadi, tidak berbuah dan diserang penyakit. Mengikut nujum, anak perempuan yang dihalau tadi adalah semangat padi. Untuk memohon maaf, petani itu harus membuat satu lembaga merupai Wau Bulan sekarang ini dan dinaikkan setelah menuai.

Mengikut asal usul yang lain, Wau Bulan lahir sebagai lambang penyatuan kembali Empayar Srivijaya oleh Dewa Muda. Setelah kemangkatan pembina Empayar Srivijaya iaitu Sri Maharaja Sri Jayanaga, maka empayar yang meliputi seluruh Asia Tenggara ini mulai berpecah diperintah secara berasingan dari negara induk Srivijaya iaitu Medang Bhumi.

Di awal abad ke-8 muncul seorang tokoh, iaitu cucu Sri Maharaja Sri Jayanaga yang bernama Jaya Sinha. Beliau mempunyai berbagai gelaran, antaranya Sabjaya atau Sanjaya Putera, Inu Dewa, Seri Panji, Mahisa Kelana Seri Panji, Raden Inu Kertapati atau Raden Asmarajaya dan Hyang Kamajaya, tetapi dia lebih terkenal dalam cerita-cerita tradisi sebagai Dewa Muda. Dewa Muda telah mengadakan beberapa serangan untuk menyatukan kembali Empayar Srivijaya.

Sebelum Dewa Muda mengadakan serangan, dia telah lama bertapa dan apabila selesai, dia pulang dari gua tempatnya bertapa dengan membawa rangka atau ‘lembaga’ wau bulan yang baginya merupakan peta penyerangan dan penaklukan kembali Empayar Srivijaya atau Asia Tenggara itu.Dewa Muda menakluk kembali empayar yang agung itu kira-kira pada tahun 713 hingga 779 Masihi. Setelah mendapat kemenangan, Wau Bulan yang menjadi lambang Empayar Srivijaya dikenali sebagai ‘Sejagat Tanah Jawa’.

Kepala dan tengkuk wau bulan yang berbentuk garuda itu melambangkan raja segala burung yang sebenarnya seorang wali. Namanya ialah Riah, dalam Bahasa Arab disebut ‘Nabi Mahlail Alaihissalam’ antara 313 rasul dan dalam Bible, beliau disebut dengan nama ‘Mahalelselt’. Dalam cerita-cerita tradisi dia digelar ‘Burung Petala Indera’. Jadi, kepala Wau Bulan ini melambangkan roh dan semangat Empayar Srivijaya, dan memberi erti asas kebudayaan dan asas peradaban dalam empayar ini.

Dikisahkan bahawa busur wau ini memiliki dua belas bahasa, dua belas ragam yang melambangkan negeri atau daerah yang disatukan kembali dengan negara pusat Empayar Srivijaya. Dua belas negeri tersebut ialah Filipina, Vietnam, Segenting, Kemboja-Laos-Thailand Tengah dan Utara, Burma, Burma Barat dan Benggala Timur menganjur ke Kepulauan Andaman, Pulau Irian dan Pulau Sulawesi. Sementara dua belas ragam bererti dua belas suku terdapat di dua belas daerah/negeri tersebut tadi.

Bulatan bulan pada Wau Bulan melambangkan negeri-negeri daratan yang dinamakan Nusarantang-kawasan yang bersambung. Bintang yang terletak di antara bulatan bulan sabit penuh dilambangkan sebagai ‘negara pusat’ atau ‘kawasan pusat pemerimtahan’ yang dinamakan ‘Nusa Kencana-Kawasan Emas dan bulan sabit penuh yang menjadi bahagian bawah wau ini dilambangkan dengan negeri-negeri kepulauan yang dinamakan Nusantara-Kawasan yang dirantai oleh laut-laut.

Wau Bulan ini memiliki tiga teraju yang melambangkan tiga bahagian empayar Srivijaya dan tiga teraju ini diikat oleh satu tali, yang melambangkan Empayar Srivijaya ini diperintah oleh satu pentadbiran pusat.

Dalam asal usul yang lain pula, wau dinyatakan berasal dari Kembayat Negara di zaman Siti Zubaidah dan wau ini bernama Wau Lenggang Kembayat. Wau inilah yang dinaikkan oleh Pembina Empayar Srivijaya iaitu Dewa Muda. Bentuknya tidaklah seperti Wau Bulan seperti yang dinyatakan dalam asal usul di atas. Wau Lenggang Kembayat ini bentukya seperti Wau Ikan yang wujudnya sekarang ini.

Banyak lagi terdapat asal usul wau, tetapi hampir semuanya menyerupai asal usul yang telah dicatat.

It is made up of 3 main townships at different elevations. The first town from the south is Ringlet, followed by Tanah Rata, Brinchang, Kea Farm, Tringkap, Kuala Terla and Kampong Raja.

Ringlet
If you're driving via the old road from Tapah, this is the first town you will see when you reach Cameron Highlands. Located at an elevation of 1,200 metres above sea-level, Ringlet is one of the main agricultural hub for the highlands. Bertam Valley which is located about 5km away is one of the main flower and vegetable producers in Cameron highlands. You wont find any hotels here in Ringlet. The nearest hotel is the LakeHouse which is less then 10 minutes away. This is also the place to fill up on fuel if you're low on supply.

Tanah Rata
Further up is Tanah Rata which is about 20 minutes drive from Ringlet. This is the administrative capital of Cameron Highlands where most of the government offices are located. The general hospital and the district police station is also located here. If you're taking the express buses, this is where the journey would end. Most of the chalets and backpacker's accommodation is located here in and around Tanah Rata. Almost all the jungle trekking and waterfall trails starts from here.

Local tours and transfers out of Cameron Highlands can be obtained from the various tour operators in town. Money changers and internet cafe's can also be found here. Tanah Rata would be a nice place to enjoy the highlands, especially during the weekdays. It is much more quieter compared to Brinchang where most of the big hotels and restaurants are located.

Brinchang
Next is Brinchang which is about 10 minutes drive from Tanah Rata. This is where you will find most of the hotels and restaurants. The night market which is open every Saturday night features all kinds of vegetables, flowers, fruits and other products of the highlands. This place can get really crowded during the weekends and holiday season. Parking can be a headache during this time. Next to Ringlet, this is the other town with petrol stations. Remember to fill up before you leave Cameron Highlands.

Kea Farm, Tringkap, Kuala Terla & Kampung Raja
Beyond Brinchang, the road leads to all the way to Blue Valley. Most of the tourist spots are located around Kea Farm. This is where you will find the markets, vegetable farms, flower gardens and butterfly gardens. The road also branches out to the Sungai Palas tea plantation from here. If you continue on the main road heading north, it will be downhill from Kea Farm onwards. You will see vegetables farms all the way from here to Tringkap and beyond. Tringkap is a small farming community where you can find small stalls along the road selling local produce. There's also a few restaurants here where tourists have meals before leaving Cameron Highlands via the north. Fifteen minutes away is Kuala Terla, another small farming community. Kampung Raja is the last town on the map. Since the opening of the Simpang Pulai road, this town has become the gateway to the highlands from the north. From here, you can head out of the highlands to Ipoh or Gua Musang in Kelantan.
